TERMOSELL40 Project: The food industry uses artificial vision to increase the quality of thermosealed packaging (chicken, poultry, etc.) that reaches the consumer

Recently, the MINECO approved funding for the TERMOSELL40 Project, aimed at industrial research on the application of artificial vision technologies to provide effective solutions to improve packaging processes in the agro-industrial sector.

The objective of the project is the development of pilot equipment by the SME INNDEO for the detection of quality problems in thermosealed chicken trays in accordance with the quality criteria of the AN Group.

This will facilitate the automatic detection of contamination in the heat-sealed area, welding defects such as bellows and/or folds, as well as the detection of foreign bodies (bruises, feathers) inside the packages, which will result in an increase in the quality of the products reaching the consumer.

The TERMOSELL40 project is included in the grants for AEIS Innovative Business Associations to which the registered clusters have access. In this case, the consortium is led by the Agri-Food Cluster NAGRIFOOD (Navarra), the aforementioned companies INNDEO (Zaragoza) and AN Group (Navarra) together with the INNOVACC Cluster (Catalonia). The clusters will disseminate the technology and the results obtained to their associates with similar problems.

The main objective is the research of new ingredients and nutritionally healthy foods obtained by applying the circular economy in sustainable production systems of crops with high environmental interest and by-products from Navarra, adapting them to consumer demand in terms of organoleptic, nutrition, health, convenience and cost. In addition, the project will be accompanied by gender perspective and market research studies.
