Life Mcubo: Modeling, Measurement and Improvement of the environmental impact associated with water management in the food industry.
The Agri-Food Cluster of Navarra (NAGRIFOOD) collaborates in the European project LifeMcubo, framed within the LIFE 2015 call. This project is aimed at the priority area Environment and Resource Efficiency and the priority theme is Water.
Pilot project for the implementation of an innovative smart management system to improve the environmental, social and economic sustainability of the wine sector in Navarra.
The main objective, whose main partners are the Navarra Industry Association (AIN), the School of Engineering of the University of Navarra (TECNUN), the Association for Research, Development and Innovation in the Agri-Food Sector (CTIC-CITA) and the Center for Technical Studies and Research (CEIT), is to reduce the environmental impact associated with water management in the 3 subsectors that consume more water in the food industry (meat, canned vegetables and juices) through the effective demonstration in 3 industrial plants of an integrated management system based on:
- Implementation of low-cost wireless monitoring.
- Modeling of production and water treatment processes in order to propose improvements.
- Validating the improvements previously in a pilot plant.
- Integrating water management into the company’s continuous improvement processes.
